Dr. Disrespect's Controversial Relationship with Bethesda
Dr. Disrespect has openly claimed that his offer to cooperate with Bethesda, the developers behind Starfield, in promoting their new game has been declined due to his 'past controversies'. Dr. Disrespect was banned from Twitch and also involved in drama regarding a NICKMERCS Call of Duty skin. His reputation has fuelled his rise to prominence, making him one of the internet’s most well-known streamers.
Dr. Disrespect's reputation
Despite his somewhat tarnished reputation, due to previous controversies, Dr. Disrespect’s opinion carries a significant amount of influence within the gaming community. He has an immense following, with thousands of viewers tuning into his live streams and millions viewing his video content. This platform has offered endless opportunities for sponsorship and exploring his own business ventures.
Bethesda's response to his proposal
According to the popular streamer, Bethesda was not interested in an association. The Doc has been promoting Starfield for a while and was really anticipating the opportunity to play the game. Despite his renown expertise in multiplayer games like Call of Duty Warzone, CSGO, and other competitive multiplayer shooters, he also enjoys single-player games.
Dr. Disrespect's reaction to the denial
The Doc’s reaction even further intensified when his character in the game had an option for pronouns, he took a jab at Pete Hines, Bethesda’s head of publishing, for having pronouns in his bio on Twitter. This action led to Dr. Disrespect concluding that Bethesda had directly denied him a sponsorship.
The Doc then claimed that despite his request to access the game simultaneously with other streamers who had received early access was also denied due to the same reasons. However, despite spending over 9 hours on Starfield during his stream and was apparently 'impressed' by the game’s sheer scale and content, it is evident that he bears some dissatisfaction towards Bethesda.
Addressing Controversy
Dr. Disrespect stated his belief that his words are being taken out of context. The tweet referenced in his article earmarked him as transphobic and that he “wouldn’t survive MW2 lobbies.” His response was that some young people are “just depressed, have no life experience and completely misdirected by the internet.”
Awaiting Bethesda's Official Response
The gaming streamer (Dr, Disrespect) has since addressed these allegations, however, Bethesda has not commented on their reported interaction with him or confirmed whether they directly denied his sponsorship request.
