Twitch suspends Fortnite streamer HydraSZN indefinitely for controversial remarks
Twitch has imposed an indefinite suspension on influential Fortnite streamer HydraSZN following controversial remarks made during a live stream.
During an event that took place in early August, HydraSZN was observed making a series of concerning eccentric remarks, suggesting that he was a 'child predator'. These remarks were immediately followed by other inappropriate comments during his broadcast.
A video of this incident began circulating on various social media platforms, capturing a moment where the streamer used an offensive insult against another player during a game conflict. Adding to the controversy, HydraSZN made a joke about 'liking children', accompanying it with the comment, 'I swear to God, in my life I'm kind of a child predator'.
Following these incidents, the streaming platform Twitch took decisive action by deciding to impose an indefinite ban on HydraSZN, which shows no signs of being lifted in the near future.
Twitch imposes indefinite ban on the streamer
On August 24, HydraSZN shared a screenshot on an unspecified social media platform, revealing that Twitch had imposed a permanent ban in response to his inappropriate content. The ban notice stated, 'We have deleted your content because it included elements that could put you or someone you know in danger. This includes content that could encourage inappropriate attention towards individuals under the age of 18'.
After the ban, HydraSZN attempted to appeal Twitch's decision. However, the appeal failed, and the streaming service chose to stand by their initial decision. In response to the ban, HydraSZN chose to shift the blame onto an unidentified member of his streaming community, claiming that this person held a 'vendetta' against him, which led to the widespread dissemination of the controversial video.
Consequences
HydraSZN commented on the situation, stating, 'All because of someone who has a vendetta against me. I feel like giving up, nothing is in my favor.' He expressed regret for his actions and disappointment with the ban, expressing his discontent with being on the verge of becoming a partner as well'.
Despite the ban and the ensuing drama, HydraSZN remains determined in his ambition to continue streaming and has announced a transfer to the Kick streaming platform. This case of a ban is not the first where a Fortnite streamer has faced consequences due to inappropriate comments or actions related to child predation. In a similar incident in 2021, Twitch banned a Brazilian streamer following his arrest on alleged charges of raping two children.
